Melanie Lewis, a second generation Texas Jew, lives and prays in Austin, Texas, where she attends Congregation Agudas Achim. She is a retired science educator and Professor in the Department of Biology at Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas, and spends her days pursuing her dual loves of art and Judaism. She traces her ancestry to Kabbalah mystics, a lineage that surely influences her artwork today.
